Third Serving Picnic
September 23rd, 2012
West End School
Awarded funds:  $814
Winner:  Gay/Straight Alliance and Youth Action Fund

We had an absolute blast at our third event!  It was the first time we took the fun to the great outdoors and the courtyard at the West End School for boys was the perfect setting.

Three great presentations were delivered and a total $814 was split and awarded accordingly.  Zoe Schaver won the majority vote with her idea to creating a Gay/Straight Alliance and Youth Action Fund.

Zoe won $500 to cover the cost of creating t-shirts to sell in efforts to generate money for the fund, and the remaining award money was split equally between April Daugherty to help start "Expressions of Us", a family-centered, arts-based festival and Jennifer Turner to grow Louisville Timebank, a network of members who donate skills and time to build communities.

Attendees heard an update from Chenoweth Allen on her project to help boys of the West End School create a comic book featuring their own art!

To top off the evening, the Mayor Greg Fischer made a surprise appearance!  What a night!

Special thanks to Eiderdown for donating a delicious soup and to Comfy Cow for providing an ice-cream treat!

Here are a few pictures from the evening.  Enjoy!
